2015 brings a new year of brand new cruise ships, itineraries and options for anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of cruise holidays, and yet still appealing to the most seasoned of cruisers.

Of utmost importance when choosing your 2015 cruise holiday, is selecting a cruise line that is appropriate for your lifestyle. If you don’t have kids and want to avoid the cacophony of noise that family holidays can bring, consider cruise lines like Princess Cruises or Cunard. If it’s fun for the whole family that you’re after, there are plenty of cruise lines like P&O or Carnival Cruises that offer something for everyone. Read on for our top picks for 2015!

Royal Caribbean International

Royal Caribbean International will celebrate 2015 with the launch of brand new Quantum-class ship Anthem of the Seas (sister ship to Quantum of the Seas), which makes her maiden voyage in November 2014. Unique onboard facilities include dodgem cars, a skydiving simulator and a glass capsule offering 360-degree views more than 90m above sea level! Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean’s 3,800-guest Explorer of the Seas arrives in Sydney in November 2015 - the biggest ship to homeport in Australia. Rhapsody of the Seas is back for its final season – next year the larger, newer Explorer of the Seas will replace it, sailing out of Sydney. Voyager of the Seas arrives in November, just after undergoing its multimillion-dollar revamp, which includes the exciting FlowRider surf simulator as the lead attraction, along with a new pool-side big screen and 3D cinema, and classic Royal restaurants Giovanni's Table, Izumi and the Chops Grille steakhouse.

Cunard

Cunard Line's flagship Queen Mary 2 and smaller sister Queen Victoria will meet for the first time in Sydney Harbour in March 2015. The distinctive Cunard ships, which accommodate 2,620 and 2,014 passengers respectively, attract huge crowds whenever they sail into a port.

The Queen Mary 2 will set sail on her second circumnavigation of New Zealand after meeting the Queen Victoria in Sydney Harbour. The 13-night voyage offers cruisers a rare chance to see our land of the Long White Cloud from the decks of the biggest ship ever to visit Australia or New Zealand. This is a 2015 event not to be missed!

P&O Cruises

P&O World Cruising’s largest ever ship, Britannia, will make her maiden cruise from Australia on March 14, 2015. The 141,000-tonne ship offers a host of new features, even including a culinary school! Also visiting Australia in March is Aurora – who will be the first of the fleet to show off the line’s striking new look following a major refurbishment. New features include Sindhu restaurant, with an amazing Indian fusion menu sure to tantalize the taste buds, and the modern classic Glass House restaurant and wine bar.

P&O Cruises will also welcome its two latest ships, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, to its existing three-ship fleet in November 2015. The expansion of the fleet will be celebrated with a spectacular parade of all five ships in Sydney Harbour on November 25. A host of maiden visits will be made throughout 2015, with initial calls to Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. The line will have three ships on Sydney Harbour for Australia Day and three ships in Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup. Princess Cruises

Princess ships have legions of loyal fans and are best suited for 50-plus couples and singles. If you’re looking for a leisurely 2015 cruise holiday, this is the best option for you.

Princess Cruises will welcome a fifth ship to its fleet in October 2015 when the 108,000 tonne Golden Princess makes her début. The ship will deploy from Melbourne for her maiden Australian season from October 2015 to March 2016, claiming the mantle of the largest cruise ship ever to be based in the Victorian capital.

The Dawn Princess will start a 12-month program of cruising in April 2015 - the longest ever in Western Australia. The Diamond Princess will be in Australia for the next two seasons, showing off its recent $30 million makeover.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line is offering a range of new cruises with Carnival Legend joining Carnival Spirit in Australia for 2015. The two ships will also offer several new fly-cruise itineraries to Hawaii and Singapore in 2015, if you’re looking for a more adventurous cruise holiday.

Carnival Spirit’s first 15-day Sydney to Singapore cruise departs in August and includes visits to Lombok and Bali in Indonesia and then onto Brisbane, the Whitsundays and Darwin. As well as offering a great range of destinations, Carnival Cruise Line is renowned for its ‘family-friendly’ atmosphere. Parents can relax with locally brewed beer in the Red Frog Pub, while the kids tire themselves out on the Green Thunder water-slide ensuring that there really is something for everyone on their cruise ships.
