Queen Mary 2... Is it the perfect ship for your next cruise holiday? Vanessa Mynot from our Cruiseabout Parnell store recently travelled onboard Queen Mary 2. Here's a few facts about the ship that may sway your decision:

Number of passangers: 3090
Weight: 148528 tons
First launched: Jan 2004

Sailing: In Feb 2012 she is circumnavigating Australia and after that she completes her World cruise via Asia and back to Southampton by mid March 12. She generally does trans Atlantic between Southampton to New York, and once a year a world cruise.

She is the largest cruise liner to come into Auckland harbour and can only berth at Jellico Wharf at the container terminal.

Suitable passengers: over 45's , singles and couples.

In general: world class cruise line, atmosphere of old world glamour and sophistication, plush accommodation, with perhaps your own butler, enrichment programmes, workshops etc. A highlight of the cruise was the afternoon tea dance - ballroom dancing with waiters serving tea and scones, cucumber sandwiches, etc.
