Eastern & Western Mediterranean Cruise Seasons
European cruising is at the top of the list for many people when it comes to cruise destinations. And by far one of the more luxurious and relaxing cruises would have to be through the Mediterranean. Here's the best time to book an Eastern & Western Mediterranean cruise:
High Season: May – August; Spring and Autumn sailings
The pros and cons of sailing in season: Summer sailing dates are very popular, especially in late August. People flock from all over the world, making it a nice cultural mix of passengers. This also means bigger crowds, hotter temperatures and higher prices.
Low/Shoulder Season: March – April; September – November; some year-round sailings
The pros and cons of sailing off season: This is the time to cruise the mega-ships, as it is scarce of families. The weather is ideal in late spring and early autumn, but November can be really wet in some areas of the Mediterranean. Some great deals can be found in this off season, however some cruise lines do not consider this to be a low season. Some parts of Europe are considered to be in season all year long, & cruise lines often deploy their newest ships to these areas. Even in the deepest and darkest months of winter, Mediterranean itineraries tend to focus on Morocco and the Canary Islands.
