Cruise Holidays Full Steam Ahead In 2014

Posted January 30th, 2014

Our love affair with cruise holidays is stronger than ever, according to latest figures which show the cruise industry continuing its fast-paced growth in 2014.

The annual State of the Cruise Industry report from cruise agency CLIA reports that global passenger numbers are forecast to reach 21.7 million this year. This represents a significant increase from 2013, where there were an estimated 21.3 million cruise passengers.

Cruise companies are also expecting to see more cruisers holidaying on the high seas this year, with 92% expecting numbers to be higher than those seen in 2013.

Our Australian cruise cousins are seeing the second highest increase in passengers, having grown 130% in the last 5 years. Across the whole of Australia and New Zealand, there will be nearly a quarter more cruise ship activity in 2014 than last year.

To meet this growing demand, 24 new ships will take to the seas over the next 2 years. There's never been a better time to cruise, so why not contact a Cruiseabout specialist today and be inspired for your next holiday.
