Charleston is a city in Charleston County, South Carolina in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is located just south of the mid-point of South Carolina's coastline, at the confluence of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers.
Charleston boasts many historic buildings, art and historical museums, and other attractions. The current downtown skyline, is dominated by church steeples and the stunning Arthur Ravenel cable-stay bridge completed in 2005 over the Cooper River.
The city is a major port on the eastern seaboard of the US and a popular destination for domestic and international tourists.
