Aomori sits at the northern end oh Honshu and faces Hokkaido.
The surrounding area boasts the worlds largest beech forest while the Ou mountains divide the prefecture and create two very different climates. The west is very wet and receives lots of snow in winter, the east is far more mild, even in summer.
