Intimate cruising in Vanuatu

Posted January 26th, 2012

Cruising through the islands of Vanuatu is always one of the most intimate and relaxing ways to experience the South Pacific. Jo Peterson from our Cruiseabout Takapuna store shares her experience whilst on her honeymoon, cruising with Island Escape in Vanuatu.

Spending our honeymoon on the Island Passage in Vanuatu, was just what we were hoping for. The ship holds up to 24 passengers, which makes for an intimate, gorgeous, luxurious and relaxing experience. Not only does it give you the opportunity to get to know the crew and the other passengers, but also get away and have time to yourself in your very well appointed cabins.

On our Island Passage trip, we were lucky enough to depart from Santo and sail out to Pentecost Island to see the land diving (traditional bungee jumping with vines), which was a once in a lifetime experience. We also visited many remote villages and it became apparent that the Island Escape team do a lot to help the local people.  The crew take you to secluded beaches and to meet the locals at the nearest villages.

There's so much to do on your trip, including spending your days snorkelling, kayaking, fishing, or just lazing around on one of the sundecks on a lounger with a good book...there really is something for everybody, and you can do as much or as little as you wish.

The price for this amazing cruise experience includes all meals on board and the food is truly delicious. As a special honeymoon treat, my husband and I were given the surprise of a 5 course menu under the stars, put together by the chef who was fabulous and had cooked in some of the best restaurants in the world. Typically you would eat lunch on the aft deck with gorgeous views and breakfast & dinner served in the main dining room inside. All of our meals were just delicious !

The Island Passage is New Zealand owned and all crew are kiwis, which is really nice. Not only do they offer South Pacific adventures in Vanuatu and Tonga, but also local cruises around the Bay of Islands and Waiheke Island in Auckland.

If you want a 5 star small ship luxury experience with amazing destinations on offer, you must travel with Island Escape.
